Virginia Cornelius

My name is Virginia Cornelius. I am 28 years old and originally from New Mexico. I have called Arizona home for the last seven and a half years and in Vistancia for over five and a half years. I have been married for five years and have two wonderful boys. I am a stay at home mom and have been active in this community for the last two years, including serving on the MOMS Club of Vistancia Board and the village’s Activities Committee.

Do you currently or have you previously served on a board or committee?
I currently serve as the Vice President of Administration for the MOMS Club of Vistancia and have served on the village’s Activities Committee since November of 2016.

How will you be able to put aside personal biases and desires to make decisions for the betterment of the entire community?
I have patience to be able to push aside my differences and my desires so that the members of this community will bring forth their input and what they would desire for this community. I believe it’s not me and my personal issues, but the communities the homeowners. We all have a voice and it should be used but only if it benefits the whole community.

What is the most important issue facing the community in the next two years?
The most important issue facing the community is the growing of our wonderful community and making sure that all homeowners feel safe and welcome in this community. It’s making sure that they know that the HOA is there for them, and that people are heard and not just forgotten.

What can the Association do to help maintain or improve current property values?
I believe that the Association already works hard enough to help improve the property values. To improve as I know the association is working with getting more activities out here for the kids. Getting the young adults activities out here would help possibly keep them from defacing property such as the Discovery Trail. Enforcing more on the regulations that are in place already with trash bins and maintaining the landscaping in front yards.

What are the three most important ways we can increase the sense of community in Vistancia?

  1. Making the homeowners past, present, and future feel welcome.
  2. Letting the homeowner’s voices be heard.
  3. Making residents feel safe knowing that the community is there for them and they aren’t alone.

How do you feel about the collaborative-partnership approach between the Board, community members and the management team? What would you do to support and/or improve these relationships moving forward?
I think the partnership between the community, the board and the management team are doing a fantastic job. This community has changed tremendously through the years and its due in part with the committee members engaging with the community to get input on what changes they would like to see. I want to be able to help the community members who have not spoken and voiced their concerns to come out and speak. We should all come together as one not feel like we are separated.
