Traffic Safety Funds Awarded to Peoria Police

Posted on June 1, 2021 at 10:54 AM by Krislyn Powell

The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) recently awarded the Peoria Police Department a total of $188,878.59 in grant funding to help purchase equipment to assist in accident investigations, Driving Under the Influence (DUI) enforcement, traffic enforcement, and education in and around the City of Peoria. This grant was graciously provided by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety through Prop 207 funding that will allow the department to purchase a vehicle for a Vehicle Crimes Detective, updated technology for diagraming accident scenes, a drone to assist in accident reconstruction, and an Intoxilyzer 9000 to assist in the processing of DUI drivers.

This funding will allow the Peoria Department to enhance its ability to conduct accident investigations and DUI enforcement. Without the continued support of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, this would not be possible.
