The City of Peoria and the Peoria Diamond Club have
collaborated to plant an edible garden on the city hall campus. The community
center food bag program, benefiting local families in need, will receive the
bounty of the vegetable harvests.
The garden consists of two plots located
behind the council chambers. Volunteers planted broccoli, cauliflower, green
beans, rainbow chard, brussel sprouts, red cabbage and kale. Diamond Club
volunteers will care for the garden and harvest the vegetables, the first of
which are due to mature in December. For more information on how to donate
gardening supplies or become a Peoria Diamond Club volunteer, please contact
Donna Fernandez, Program Manager, at 623-773-8710.
